A favicon (short for favorites icon), also known as a website icon, shortcut icon, url icon, or bookmark icon is a 16x16 pixel square icon associated with a particular website or webpage.
It helps you give your blog a personal touch.
Now when it comes to blogging with blogger we know that blogger does not support hosting for .ico files.
In this blog post we shall see how can a custom favicon be added to a blog at blogger.
Designing a favicon
- Open up photoshop or any other image editor you are comfortable with.
- Create a new image of size say 100x100 (must be a square : 50x50,200x200 etc)
- Design the image as per your taste.
- Resize the image to 16x16
- save the result as a .ico (icon) file.
Hosting the favicon
- go here
- upload the favicon (the previously created icon file) (no registration required)
- copy the hosted link (provided after uploading) to clipboard. (see image)
Adding the favicon to blogger
-go to blogger
-navigate to yourblog -> Layout -> Edit HTML
-now paste the link from clipboard just below the beginning of the head tag
-save changes made to the html
-clear browser cache and reload your blog.
